Sanyo Bi-facial Solar Panels
As with any solar module designed by Sanyo, the Sanyo HIT-195DA3 195-watt module is unbeatable when it comes to quality, durability and reliability. This particular panel is still somewhat of a novelty in the solar power industry because it is bifacial, which means that power can be generated from both sides of the module. The front of this panel will convert direct sunlight into power, while the backside works off of ambient or indirect light.

The backside adds 30% more to rated power 
Awnings, balconies, bus shelters, decks, canopies, fences and tracking are examples of applications that can take advantage of the double-sided panel. Dependent on system design and the ratio of light reflection on a particular application, the back side of this panel can result in 30% more power per square foot than a one sided panel. To maximize power generation, you'll want to elevate the panels as much as possible and place them above light-colored surfaces. You'll also want to make sure that the support rails don't shade the panel's back face. 

Proprietary Technology
Sanyo HIT bifacial solar cells are hybrids of single crystalline silicon surrounded by ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers. As temperatures rise, Sanyo HIT-195DA3 solar panels produce 10% or more electricity (kWh) than conventional crystalline silicon solar panels at the same temperature.

SANYO silicon wafers located inside Sanyo HIT-195DA3 solar panels are made in California and Assembled in Mexico (from March 2011). The panels are assembled in an ISO 9001 (quality), 14001 (environment), and 18001 (safety) certified factory. Unique eco-packing minimizes cardboard waste at the job site. The panels have a Limited 20-Year Power Output and 5-Year Product Workmanship Warranty.

Sanyo solar panels

Panasonic/Sanyo began research and development on Amorphous Silicon Thin Film technology in 1975 and on Single Crystalline Silicon in 1990. Panasonic/Sanyo combined these two technologies to produce a hybrid technology—HIT—their own proprietary design. HIT stands for Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin Layer.

While HIT solar cells are manufactured at 200° C during the p-n junction process, crystalline silicon solar cells are produced at 900° degrees.

Panasonic/Sanyo’s production sites are located in Japan, Canada, Mexico and Germany. As of October 2009, their silicon wafers have come from California and Oregon.
