Pre-wired and tested, the Four Star Backup 4400 backup power has your back in a blackout! All you need to do is decide which appliances you want to be able to run when the utility grid is knocked out or disconnected. An electrician will separate out those critical loads into an auxilliary subpanel that will run on batteries until the power comes back on.
Seamless electrical coverage
This 240 volt backup power unit
incorporates an inverter that monitors the grid. When the grid goes down or is disconnected, the inverter switches to battery backup in less than a second, keeping your critical loads online until the grid comes back.
The Four Star Backup 4400 includes eight 200 amp hour batteries, a Magnum Energy MS4448 sinewave inverter & remote, battery monitor, battery enclosure, battery and inverter cables and battery interconnects and terminal caps.
The battery banks of the Four Star Backup 4400 can be charged with grid electricity, or by generator, or by solar panels. They can also be expanded by adding additional batteries. See Battery Options below.
No solar panels are included in this package but they can be easily added. See Add-on Options below. Adding solar panels expands the capacity of your backup power system and qualifies the whole purchase for a 30% federal tax credit.
If you add the Solar Add On, your purchase of this backup power system will qualify for a Federal Tax Credit equal to 30% of the installed cost.
Applications
This Backup Power System will run lighting, a well pump, refrigerator, internet, security alarm….over days, if managed carefully. Not appropriate for AC heating or agricultural irrigation pumps.
This is essentially a small offgrid power system. Read Sizing Offgrid Systems and use this handy Load Evaluation Worksheet to understand how to determine which critical loads you will be able to power. If you need to expand capacity you can add more solar panels and batteries, and those will qualify for an additional tax credit.
