Why use a solar power system to power your home?
Solar energy is an abundant, unlimited resource.
Each minute of the day, enough sunlight reaches the Earth’s surface to meet the world’s energy demand for an entire year!
By using clean electricity from a solar electric home power system, you can reduce our dependence on foreign oil as well as reduce the pollution from coal, oil and nuclear power plants.
The technology used in residential solar power systems is proven and reliable.
What is the cost of solar? |

| A 10-kilowatt home solar power system, over its 35-year expected life, will provide the equivalent carbon dioxide reduction as planting 1,450 trees. Based on pollution from a typical utility company’s production of the same amount of electricity, this system will prevent over 930,000 lbs of carbon dioxide, 4,230 lbs of sulfur dioxide, and 1,350 lbs of nitrogen oxides. It will produce 575,000-kilowatt hours of electricity, as much as would be generated by burning 583,000 lbs of coal. |
There are many kinds of renewable energy systems, not all of which include solar power. Some are powered by wind or water or a combination of solar, wind and water.
Some are grid solar power systems; others are completely independent of utility power lines such as off grid solar power systems. |
