We’re happy to introduce the Zep Solar Panel Mounting System! We’ve been waiting for our first shipment of the Canadian Solar modules with the Zep groove so we could personally check them out. They feel really sturdy and are proving to be super easy to install.
The Zep Solar Panel Mounting System is designed for quick installation of solar arrays and for straight forward grounding of solar panel systems. This system is compatible with any solar panel that has a Zep Groove on the external surface of the panel. Currently the only panel we carry that conforms is the Canadian Solar Canadian Solar CSI CS6P-235PX 235-watt Zep Module.
Because this innovative racking system does not use rails it can be shipped, stored and installed more easily and faster than traditional racking systems.
The Zep, a specialized stainless steel fastener, is the heart of the Zep System. The Zep uses quarter-turn coupling to lock into the Zep Groove. This technology allows for drop-in installation of one side of each solar panel. A cut through the panel frame anodization allows for grounding of the module as well as thermal expansion. The Zep System is the best solution for electrical safety because of its fully redundant hyper-bonded grounding matrix. The two main components to the mounting system are the Interlock and the Leveling Foot.

Zep System Key Points:
• Reduction in installation time
• Mounting rails and clip hardware are not necessary
• Separate grounding hardware is not necessary
• Ultra reliable hyper-bonded grounding matrix
• Precision array leveling from top
• Fewer mounting hardware parts—3 total for an entire array
• Aesthetic improvements—level and straight low profile install
Financial Savings Because the Zep System eliminates the need for rails, the cost of shipping the mounting components is significantly reduced. The Zep System can bring about savings of more than $0.50 per watt! Additionally, this easier method of installation allows for cost and time-savings on the side of installation companies and Do-It-Yourself installers. This can mean more installations per crew per day and more solar energy overall!

The Ground Zep, ZS-GZP
The Ground Zep is ETL listed to UL standards for ground bond connection. This piece bonds the frame of a solar panel to an equipment-grounding conductor carrying the ground path to earth. With a quarter turn the Ground Zep connects to the Zep Groove on the solar panel and then to an equipment-grounding conductor with a lay-in set screw connection. One Ground Zep will provide grounding for 72 solar panels. |

The Zep System II Interlock, ZS-ILA
The interlock securely connects adjacent solar panel frames resulting in a rigid, contiguous grid that is also a hyper-bonded grounding matrix. The Interlock connects to the Zep Groove by simply quarter-turning the Interlock Zep. The Interlock Zep tongue serves as the male components for the drop-in pivot and lock action. |

Zep Compatible PV Modules
Compatible Solar Panels are determined by Zep and must have the Zep Groove frame geometry. They must work with Zep hardware products and all panels listed are listed to UL1703.

Wire Clip, ZS-WCP
The Wire Clip secures array PV wiring by snapping into the Zep Groove and then sliding to create the precise tension required. The Wire Clip can hold both DC and AC (micro inverter) wiring and provides either sleeved or strain relief connections. |

Zep Tool
The Interlock, Leveling Foot and Ground Zep are installed using the Zep Tool. It’s designed to receive a star driver bit so that the Leveling Foot height can be adjusted to level the array easily. |

Flat Tool
The Flat Tool is designed to remove the Interlock from between solar panels so that a panel can be removed form within the array. |

The Leveling Foot, ZS-LFA
The Leveling Foot allows the PV Array to be attached to the roof or ground mount structure. The Leveling Foot bonds electrically to a PV module at the Zep Groove. It has a double-threaded stud allowing for rapid, drill-driven adjustment of the panel’s height. The Leveling Foot design allows for a perfectly straight and level array—regardless of any imperfections on the mounting surface. |
