Description
Midnite Solar’s Whiz Bank Jr. Battery Monitor
The Whiz Bang Jr is a current sense module that attaches to the standard 50mv / 500A Shunt and wires into the Classic and KID Charge controllers to give Amperage readings from the shunt. This allows for EndAmps to function based on System amps or Classic amps.
Without the Whiz Bang Jr., the Classic or KID charge controllers can monitor how much power they are sending to the battery bank. With the Whiz Bang Jr. installed at the shunt, it is able to monitor power going to the batteries from multiple sources (i.e., wind, another charge controller, or grid) plus keep track of the power being used by loads. This information will give the charge controller a broader view of the system helping determine when the battery bank is full or not.
Upgrade your charge controller’s firmware to version 1758 or newer to display results directly on your charge controllers LCD display. When connected to the Classic line of charge controllers, the Whiz Bang Jr. monitors the actual charge of the batteries and terminates the absorption stage if necessary.
