Don’t settle for an overpriced, cookie-cutter system from a turnkey solar provider. When you work with Wholesale Solar, you’re in charge of your project from start to finish. With access to 50+ reputable brands and a design consultant who can tailor a custom system package to your preferences, working with us means you’re empowered to go solar on your own terms.
As a 100% employee-owned company, you can rest assured that every team member at Wholesale Solar is dedicated to your project’s success. We are committed to working hard with every customer to design a tailored solution that fits your energy needs.
Wholesale Solar is more than just an equipment distributor. Our seasoned technicians partner with you throughout the entire process, designed a complete solar solution that is tailored to your preferences. We’re here to make sure your system is compatible, code-compliant and sized to suit your needs.
Solar system sizing is a complex process. Our technicians evaluate the unique factors that impact your project—like local climate and shade from obstructions—to make recommendations on how to get the most out of your system.
With premium access to equipment from over 50 manufacturers and more than 10,000 systems under our belt across the United States, we have the proven expertise to help you anticipate and overcome any challenges during the design process. For peace of mind, our in-house tech team provides electrical wiring diagrams and system compatibility checks to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Ready to team up with one of our technicians? Here’s what to expect during the design process.
When you contact us, we’ll ask you some basic questions to get started, including your ZIP code and monthly kilowatt-hour usage.
You can find your energy usage on your electric bill. It’s a good idea to gather up to 12 months of data to account for periods of higher and lower usage as the seasons change.
When you’re ready to get started, you can provide us with information to start the process. We’ll use this info to get a baseline system size, then customize it to your specs.
Is your home right for solar? We’ll ask questions about factors that impact system performance, like mounting location and shading concerns.
If trees, chimneys and other obstructions cast shade where you want to mount your panels, we’ll discuss shade mitigation technology like power optimizers and micro-inverters to make your system as efficient as possible.
If you go with a roof mount system, we’ll want to know the layout of your roof. South-facing roofs are ideal for solar. East- and West-facing roofs still work, but may need a few more panels to make up for slightly lower output.
After you provide some preliminary information about your project, we will schedule a phone consultation with your designer, who will ask questions about your project goals in order to tailor a system to your specific needs.
Next, we’ll ask you about any product preferences you have. Want to support American-made panels? Looking for premium products with the latest technology? Or maybe you just want the most efficient panels you can find on a budget?
If you’re partial to any brands or products, let us know during the consultation. We’re happy to customize our standard solar system packages to include whatever best suits your needs.
System sizing mistakes can be dangerous. If the system voltage is too high, it can damage the equipment and potentially lead to health and safety hazards.
It’s really important to get this part right to ensure your safety. So every system we sell goes through a rigorous design check with our in-house tech team. We double-check that parts are compatible and everything is sized properly so that your panels supply power to the inverter at a safe voltage.
When you make your purchase, our tech team also provides a multi-line electrical wiring diagram for your system. This wiring diagram shows exactly how each component should be wired together and lists the exact sizes for wiring and conduit needed for your project.
This wiring diagram must be submitted to local building office as part of the permitting process. We provide a wiring diagram as part of every system package we sell.
If you need a diagram ahead of time for permitting approval, we sell stand-alone diagrams for a small deposit that is credited toward your system purchase when you decide to buy from us— so there’s no extra cost for starting the permitting process early.
Kick off the design consultation process by providing us with some basic information about your project.
Need help navigating the permitting process? No problem. Our in-house tech team provides the electrical wiring diagram needed to complete the permitting package for a small fee, which is credited toward the cost of your system when you buy from us.
If you’d rather not get bogged down in the technical details required to fill out the permit application, we can direct you to third-party permit services who create the entire permit package for you, delivering a final plan set for you to submit to your local permitting office.
If you choose to permit with SPS, we skip the in-house wiring diagram and subtract the $100 diagram charge from your quote.

Unlike most online solar equipment providers, we don’t "ship it and forget it." Our excellent reputation has been built on designing systems that last and making happy customers for life. Part of that is access to free in-house tech support from our dedicated support team.
If you hit a stumbling block installing, programming, or maintaining your system, give us a call and our tech team will help you (or your installer) through it. We don’t charge a dime to support the systems we sell.
Our #1 goal is to treat our customers right. Here’s what some of them have to say about their experience working with us:
